So far, so good

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

So I got a good start on this last night.  I got it all stretched out, pinned and even got some rows sewn.  It's going pretty good.  Just trying not to get poked by all of these pins!  As far as the quilting goes, I really need a stitch regulator, but I'm doing the best I can without it.  This won't be perfect, but I think it will still be cute for my little guy.

(Sorry about the dark pictures.  Not sure what I could have done differently at 10:30 at night in my basement.)

I had to bring in a little back up.  This is all a little tedious!

I'm trying to whip this baby out so that I can move on to 1 of the 10 other quilts I've got lined up.  Maybe it's a little motivation so that I can start something new one of these days...a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!

I'm going to the printer today to approve the last picture that needed to be lightened.  Two of the three cover pictures looked light enough, so after this I will just need to send them over all of the updated files and they should be ready to print in the next couple days!?!  I have been debating about whether to use another blog for my patterns or just use this one.  I am thinking I would just like to use this one, but am hesitant because it doesn't have "Gigi's Thimble" in the address.  Do you think it would be a problem if I just put this blog address on my patterns?

  1. I think if you made yourself a button where people could just click on it and go to your patterns that that would be good.

  2. You need some basting safety pins, girlfriend! A little pricey investment up front, but SO worth it--and they last forever!

I think you can use one blog for all your stuff including patterns. Just include a button at the very top with a pattern logo/link, and use this address on your pattern envelopes. I've seen it done that way.

  3. This is looking great! I second Doris's recommendation on the safety pins. One side is curved, and it makes it much easier.

And you should try free-motion quilting on your machine! I was very intimidated and didn't think my bottom-of-the-line sewing machine could handle it, but it can. You might be surprised!

  4. yeah you need to get those curved safety pins. Ouch!

I thought you already had your gigi's thimble blog set up? But this blog is your quilting blog, too. So, hmmm. I'd just keep this one and do the button idea that the other two gals suggested.

  6. I'm not really sure how it all works with doing a different blog such, but it seems to me since you already have a following here it would make sense to just put them on this one. BTW, the quilt looks great!

  9. Love the quilt Amber! Can't wait to see the finished product. One thing i love about Heather Bailey and Sandy Hendersons blog is that its both their personal stuff and their professional stuff...just makes it all a little more personal and inviting. I think you start to form a connection to the product and the person...thats nice. Just my two cents :)
