You may remember the wee version of this that I made a while back [???]
At that time I decided to make the little one for my sweet new nephew, Van, and a throw size one for our family [instead of making one really big one.] Well yesterday I finished piecing together the last of these zig zags.
I debated about the brown. But, I needed one more row. So this is what I came up with. I told my husband this will probably be a very controversial quilt [among all of you color experts out there...]
What do you think? Do I dare ask? :)
lovely....
ReplyDeleteI'm not a color expert, but I know what I like, and I like it! I especially like your quilt hangers!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The brown is calming and works really well with the rest of the colors. Such a pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteWorks for me ! If it were a circle, the brown would be next to the red, and that's totally right !
ReplyDeleteI love how the different prints makes the quilt sparkle more than a totally one-fabric row would.
Well, since you asked... :) I think it's stunning! :) I love a simple pattern with well placed color. It's a keeper for sure!
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful! I love the brown addition.
ReplyDeleteI like it!!!
ReplyDeleteI like it
ReplyDeletebrown is good in this case. I personally love this style of zig zag...though I haven't made one yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's great, Amber! I can hardly wait to see it all done.
ReplyDeleteLove it - makes me want to start gathering fabric for my own!
ReplyDeleteI personally love brown, but if you wanted to go lighter/brighter you could add a bright pink at the top?!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! The brown was a good choice!
ReplyDeleteI probably would have gone with burgundy's but it's still awesome with the brown row! LOVE the quilt top!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!! You did a wonderful job with the colors. I love rainbow themed quilts. So bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteI love it!!

I like the brown, but I'm a brown/orange kind of a gal.
ReplyDeleteThe brown balances it. Absolutely lovely!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! The brown works but I think I would have gone to a brighter purple. The top of the quilt is very bright and it gets quite a bit darker at the bottom. But saying that I do still like it very much. You have great patience to do all those hst's!
ReplyDeleteI like the brown. I think the brown is a strong color and it sort of compliments the red at the top of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I've been wanting to make one of these for quite a while. I think the brown works great. And remember, it's your quilt - who cares if somebody else doesn't like the brown?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI just gave you an award, please go check it out

What a great quilt! What size did you make your half square triangles? I'm having a hard time using my scraps. Every time I use them in a project, I think now this HAS to put a big dent in my scraps, but it's like they're multiplying! Maybe if I make one of these, it'll help. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBefore I read your comments, the first thing I said was "wow the brown!" I LIKE it. Grounds the whole thing. : )
ReplyDeleteI really like the way in which you have combined solids with patterns. The brown is good, it gives the spectrum closure!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
What precision... Great color flows.
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect.Maby it needed the brown.

I love it! It's fun to pick out the different fabrics. (But I'm a fabric nerd like that.)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks absolutely perfect and a fun quilt to make!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm predisposed to like all the quilts I see. So, it looks pretty to me and useful and loved by the kids.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt, and I think the brown looks perfect in there. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a big quilt and I love everything about it including the brown row. Don't know what you could have used that would look better.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while. You have accomplished alot. I have to go back and read more...
What a rainbow quilt, it is beautiful. any idea how many fabrics you used?
ReplyDeleteBetty Lou,
ReplyDeleteOK. You made me curious so I just counted and I've got 114 different fabrics!
10 red
10 oranges
14 yellows
20 limes
11 dark greens
15 aquas
12 dark blues
10 purples
8 browns
I traded a lot of 5" squares with my sister-in-law and a friend, and also used what I had so I didn't have to buy TOO much fabric for this quilt!
Thanks for asking and have a great day!
Amber
LOVE IT! Its huge!
ReplyDeleteWhy would it be controversial? I LOVE it -- it's gorgeous and colorful!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else - luv it! What's not to love about it!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The brown is perfect. I am not a color expert, but I like the dark of the red at the top and the dark in the brown at the bottom. To me it opens at the top and closes at the bottom with those to colors. Looks great.
