All Hallows Eve Portrait

I love this time of year, don't you?

I love the crisp autumn air.
Scarves and cozy sweaters.
Soups and pumpkin pie cake.
I love the fallen leaves in my yard.
And the thrill of my children raking them up in huge piles
just to jump in them over and over again.

I love family get-togethers.
And thinking about my blessings.

I love the festivities of the coming months.
And I love my newly finished "All Hallows Eve Portrait" wall-hanging.
It's my only finish as of late and I think it's the perfect little quilt to take our home from the cold, dark nights of Octobers' tricks and treats
into a cozy, thankful November.

The pattern, "All Hallows Eve Portrait" can be found in Joanna Figueroa's Fresh Vintage Issue #17.

Delighted!

Working in the fabric/quilting industry is really a dream.  I smile when I tell someone that "I was working" when I was actually at home sewing, playing with fabric, designing, writing up patterns, researching {Pinterest, blogs, magazines}, marketing {blogging}, going to quilt shops and buying fabric.  Once in a while I even get to hang out with some really amazing and inspiring people that love what I love.

One of those occasions was last week when I was able to attend Amanda Herring's {The Quilted Fish} launch party for her new fabric line called Delighted!  I had first got an email about it and then a darling invitation in the mail so I've had been looking forward to it all month.  I made arrangements to go with my quilty friend, Heather {from Quilt Story}.  We had a blast and I just have to share some pictures from that night.

Amanda thought of every detail.  Seriously.  I could tell the moment we walked in the door that we were in for some fun.

Look at these centerpieces!

And these window displays...

 {LOVE that truck!}

 There was make and take stations, a photo booth and even a candy "bar"!

I LOVE the ferris wheel {and look ~ she even made pillows for the cabs!}

There were a few familiar faces
[Amy from the blog, Amy's Creative Side, Heather and Erin from the blog, Two More Seconds].  It was fun to chit chat and get a little kick in the pants from Amy...I've been such a slacker lately :)

 [ Me and the hostess, Amanda]

That girl is so inspiring.  She really knows how to go "all out" and make everything a party!  I drove home that night with goodies in hand and my creative juices flowing.  Thanks Amanda for showing us how it's done!!!

A Different Kind of Post

Did you have a good weekend?

I did!  I made some great headway on my new sock quilt, ate lots of Snap Doodle Breakfast Cake (family recipe can be found HERE),
feasted on the word of God and did some crafting with my daughter.

It was a great weekend for handwork as our family spent about 8 hours in front of the television (Saturday and Sunday) listening to a prophets voice.  We always look forward to the opportunity that we get twice a year for what our faith (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) calls, General Conference.  I truly feel uplifted after listening to our dear Prophet, who is such a sweet and funny man, as well as other leaders of our church.  Questions have been answered and promptings have been felt.

I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life.  I've always felt that it was true, but it was when I was about 19-years-old that I really found my strength and conviction.  Today I have been checking out the "I'm a Mormon Campaign" that I've heard a little about and let me tell you that listening to these every day peoples' stories about who they are and how the church has touched their lives is addicting.  I've only watched about 3 or 4 videos so far and I've already laughed, cried and smiled.  If you want to learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints you can start HERE.

I didn't plan to post about this today.  I hope you don't mind that I've gotten a bit serious here on my quilty blog.  Today I am just enjoying thinking about stuff that really matters.
